Sue Grafton, the author of A Is For Alibi and 24 other mysteries featuring detective Kinsey Millhone, died Thursday at age 77. Her daughter Jamie wrote on Facebook that, "out of the deep abiding love and respect for our dear sweet Sue, as far as we in the family are concerned, the alphabet now ends at Y."

(31,745 posts)I will miss her. Like many here, I have been reading her books since "A."
My dog is named Kinsey, after her detective.

(9,323 posts)Started reading Grafton's alphabet detective novels in 2014. "Mavis" was donating her book club books to the lending library at the local senior center. "Mavis" donated the middle of the alphabet.
I was bored for something easy to read after ignoring Grafton for years. Ended up searching out reading copies of the early alphabet and other skips. I actually bought "Y" in hardback new at Costco and looked forward to the now never to be "Z".
Great entertaining writer that grew as an artist.
