When I was a kid I got a new pair of black, high top, lace up canvas shoes. They had a white circular rubber patch on the inside ankles.
I think they were PF Flyers.
Granny called them 'easy walkers', so that's what I called them.
I put those shoes on and I felt like I could fly like the wind.
Brits call them 'plimsolls', or at least they used to.
What do you call them?

Older brother had black ones. His foot was larger then, but I would sneak them and put newspaper in the toes and wear them sometimes.
