Related: About this forumso my doctor says my kidneys are doing very poorly
60 years old and starting to feel it.
so he says no tomato, avocado, potato, banana etc...diabetes and high blood pressure have damaged my kidneys...funny tho...I feel better than I have in years...lost lots of weight and have not been sick at all. I work two jobs seven days a week and have done this for years. so anyone have any tips on what I can eat that is low potassium and maybe regenerative to kidneys?
can't say I'm liking the idea of never eating avocados or tomatoes again...

(2,226 posts)Of health. My dr a akdc kidney specialist recommended drinking lots of water, so I did and still do. Water helped a lot.

The best news has been that I have scored higher on my memory test two years in a row.

(155,514 posts)I have kidney issues and type II diabetes and had a scare six or seven years ago when the eye doctor found some leakage in one eye due to Actos. Since this scare and two rounds of injections into the eyeball, the eye doctor told me that I have stabilized and that if there was kidney damage due to the diabetes, it would show up in the eye exam. My renal doctor confirmed this. My renal doctor thinks that my damage may have been due to NSIDs. My kidney function has been stable for the last 5 or 6 years. I have been avoiding nsids during this period.
Again, if diabetes is the reason for your kidney damage, then this would probably show up in a good eye exam and scan
Good luck.
