For corn to germinate leftieNanner Aug 2024 #1
To be completely honest, I didn't plant it. I suspect the bird feeders on the deck helped. OAITW r.2.0 Aug 2024 #3

Yes. About a dozen stalks, planted in a square should do it. yellowdogintexas Aug 2024 #4

I'm thinking 2 cords, with the 1/2 cord left last year should do it. Actually I got 2-1/2 cords last year OAITW r.2.0 Aug 2024 #14

but I suspect the birds are who planted those sunflowers, too. But I could be wrong.

I have driven on country roads with 6 foot tall field corn on both sides of the road. Huge fields of it. When it pollinates, the pollen just hangs in the humid Kentucky night air. Talk about an allergy trigger!!

Get started on that plan. Of course, it's almost never too early for that.

and I still have about a 1/2 cord. So I get a pretty efficient burn, given my airtight runs 24/7

In our vegetable garden when I was a kid. We had blue corn and rainbow corn ,heirloom tomatoes 3 kinds of squash , cukes , carrots , onions, eggplant, broccoli , chard, kale ,

My father would bitch me out when we weeded the garden because I would wolf down shitloads of the little yellow pear shaped tomatoes like popcorn.

We had spinach too . we had a huge garden when I was growing up and our yard was peppered with peach trees , 2 kinds of cherry, apples .

My father spliced 2 saplings together one of a golden delicious tree to a red delicious tree so one half had yellow apples the other side was red. It looked cool. It was there a long long time until lightning struck it it never was the same after that.

We had blackberries, raspberries , strawberries and gooseberries. We had a white grape vine and a vine of incredibly delicious Concord grapes which I feasted on every summer.

My mom planted all sorts of flowers funky tulips, green snapdragons irises poppies 4 o'clocks and a catnip patch for the cats.

We had various exotic trees. We had big shady maple trees a mimosa , pink dogwoods ,tulip trees a sassafrass tree .

We had neon pink azaleas lining our driveway and behind them was bright orange tiger lilies. We had primroses We had two lilac bushes that filled the yard with a wonderful scent.

We had 2 huge weeping cherry trees in our front yard that were covered in tons of pink flowers in the spring. Until they blew apart and covered the ground with pink confetti

Our yard was epic and the whole neighborhood appreciated it.

Good memories I had from an otherwise awful time growing up. I was a gen x free range feral child. I lived in the treetops of the big maple trees. They were planted before I was born they got old and unstable and were cut down when I was 30 something and I cried my eyes out.Avoided stopping playing with my cousin and going inside and talking to the parents by eating the fruits and stuff in the yard.
