The Daily Show
Related: About this forumYesterday John Oliver was hilarious
I haven not watched the Daily Show for many weeks. Even before Stewart took his leave.
But yesterday, with the royal baby taking over so much of the news, decided to watch and was not disappointed.
First, the report was under: at Her Majesty Secret Cervix..
A reported said how, once the baby was born, Prince Williams would get an encrypted cell phone and would call the palace: Granny, it's a baby! (as opposed to, I suppose, a kitty..)
CNN filled the time by interviewing "regular" women who were in labor someplace else. One was given laughing gas but she was not laughing.
There was the Town Crier who announced the birth and Oliver said: I am English, and I cannot understand him.
And them both CNN and MSNBC broadcasted the full 62 gun salute which, said Oliver, took almost three minutes. By the 48th, he said, viewers should conclude that the network was on maternity leave...
To a more serious topic: his guest was Richard Haas, the chairman of the Council of Foreign Relations who wrote a book about how we first have to solve our domestic problems - like infrastructure - before we can advise other nations.

(289 posts)has been great since Stewart left. He was a good choice to fill in, and always has a witty, english way to poke fun at the "news".
