Being prepared to defend oneself with a can of pepper spray, however, doesn't begin to rise to the level of paranoia (and, in some cases, extreme cowardice) as carrying a firearm for protection in places where the need for protection is nearly zero.

That really sounds a lot like "I'm special, my guns are OK, but no one else should have them."

Accordingly, what precisely do you mean when you say you favor strict gun control? What laws and policies do believe are necessary (and comply with the Constitution)?

Also, for reference, I personally don't own firearms (yet am fully eligible), yet liberally support the individual right to keep and bear arms. I consider myself very fortunate to live and work in great neighborhoods and super-secure buildings in Manhattan (I'm an attorney), and other people may have different circumstances that warrant different choices about self-defense, sport, hunting, etc.

Old-line cartoon and Newz paper terms are readily and swiftly adopted by controller-banners; after all, gun control is not a movement, but an outlook whose spokespersons are elites in MSM, some entertainers and older Beltway Democratic "leaders." Put another way, CAUTION: Ojects in this mirror are larger than they appear.

BTW, where did the sexually demeaning term "ammosexual" first come from?

That said, even I do appreciate some juvenile humor now and then (just yesterday watched "Krod Mandoon and the Flaming Sword of Fire" -- highly recommended, if you go for that sort of thing), but when it comes to serious political discussion, childishness just doesn't really get one very far -- note how successful the anti-gun brigades have been lately.

40. New Study Shows The Bigger The Gun, The Bigger The Person, The Smaller The Penis
Sun Feb 28, 2016, 02:08 PM
Feb 2016
Manchester, NH — A new study released today by the American Research Group shows that the larger an individual is along with also having a bigger gun directly relates to the size of that person’s penis size.

Paul Horner who headed up the 5-year study for the group explained to reporters how they came to the conclusion of their findings. “We took a group of over 500 male gun owners in various cities all around the country. Half of the men weighed under 200 lbs while the other half weighed over 200 lbs. We noticed immediately that the guns owned by the men weighing under 200 lbs were your normal size guns, your Glock pistols and such. The men weighing over 200, 300 and especialy 400 lbs all owned semi-automatic rifles and large weapons such as AK47’s. One individual weighing 769 lbs owned a Howitzer and scientists were unable to locate the man’s penis,” Horner said. “We measured the men’s penis sizes. It was an amazing find I must say. All the men with the large stomachs and big guns all had very small penises, whereas the normal size men with the normal size guns all had very average size penises.”

47-year-old Billy Jo Ray from DeQuincy, Louisiana who owns an AK47 and weighs 425 lbs said he does not agree with the study. “I don’t give a go*damn what these fact checkin’, fancy scientists think. My one-half inch johnson satisfies all the ladies in town. I’ve never heard any complaints from my cousins once.”

The fact that you would post it in an otherwise serious discussion, particularly after your thread about it was unceremoniously closed, reveals far more unflattering facts about you than it does about firearms or gun owners, and really helps explain the current sorry state of the gun control movement.

Maybe you should post it in the other closed gun forum where you're a moderator, it's been really quiet there for a very long while, and let the adults engage in discussion over here.
