He said police were called to 934 W. 14th St. at 4:23 a.m. regarding a shooting. Around the same time, Samuel Robertson IV, 37, also called police to tell them he had shot Kenneth Lanning, his landlord, and was waiting for police to arrive so he could fully explain what had happened, police said.
Police found Lanning, 35, in a kitchen area of a residence with a bullet wound to his torso and upper arm area. Lanning was taken to Mercy Hospital and later flown to a Cleveland-area hospital. He has since been moved to a regular hospital bed and his injuries are described as non-life threatening, according to a press release.
Robertson, who has a concealed-carry license, was wearing a holstered 9 mm handgun which he handed over when police arrived and found him near Washington Avenue and W. 14th Street, police said.
