VE Day, May 8, 1945, Victory in Europe: WWII The Greatest Generation, Victory over Fascism


- On May 8, 1945, WWII came to an end in Europe as the Allies declared victory after 6 long years of war. (2020). During WWII, an estimated 70 million people were killed. More than half of them were civilians. Only 10% of Americans who served in WWII are alive today. (V-J Day, Victory over Japan, the Pacific, Aug. 15, 1945, is the day on which Imperial Japan surrendered in WWII, in effect bringing the war to an end).
