1961 U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower delivers a televised farewell address to the nation three days before leaving office, in which he warns against the accumulation of power by the "militaryindustrial complex" as well as the dangers of massive spending, especially deficit spending.

Eisenhower had the experience and decency to tell America the truth. But the greed and indecency of the CEOs of big corporations and government officials and their enablers won out. With a bloated "defense" budget that makes up 40 percent of what the world spends on the military and growing, they continue to win. At the cost to taxpayers and those who suffer from our misadventures. It is one of the greatest failures of our post WWII era.
