A question about the impeachment

As a New American, with dual citizenship and a political junkie, with 30 years of residence,
Please let me know why all these Republicans are afraid of this president, when if he was convicted he would be powerless to carry out all his threats of retaliation, wouldnt he?
They imo, would keep their seats and could become heros!
Thanks

I believe he's just as guilty as 45, and I would have agreed a while ago, but Parnes's (not sure of the spelling) has receipts implicating Everyone !
But ...also not sure about Pence's sanity.
If only they ,the Senators all had guts and stuck together, and actually announced that our constitution was worth risking their positions. Then, #45 might have little time considering all the lawsuits waiting for him, to worry about them.
Always optimistic...mostly, I guess.

but their whole show is revolving around him. The "heads on a pike" thing has been painfully obvious.

the white house is cleaned out.

Besides that, they are afraid of the electorate-- many of them are from Trump-leaning states, and they could get their own asses thrown out. The whole house and many Senators are up for re-election in November

And there is the simple fear of the unknown- - Nixon resigned and Clinton got off (OK, in more ways than one...) so no one knows what will happen if Trump is dragged kicking screaming out of Washington. Best not to find out...

he would retain a level of power. His power is the same power a monkey with a live hand grenade has.

information that will destroy them personaly and or politically even if crook in WH resigns, quits or is removed from office.

InRussian culture, kompromat, short for "compromising material" (Russian: компрометирующий материал, romanized: komprometiruyushchy material), is damaging information about a politician, a businessperson, or other public figure, used to create negative publicity, as well as for blackmail and extortion.

Having grown up in East Berlin, I am sadly too familiar with Russian tactics and agree with you!
But, we must not let them win.
It's too terrifying, and I still have hope!
