50 years ago this event took place

It was the Apollo 8 space mission. Did you watch it on T.V? Or were at the launching site in Florida?
It was a nice way to end a turbulent year.

I used to wade fish the Mosquito Lagoon area and many of the small tidal canals near the cape. After the Challenger disaster they closed a lot of the little access roads so people were not able to get as close as previously. Same thing happened offshore and in airspace.

I was in the mountains of Oaxaca, Mexico. Only communication technology was a telegraph wire one mile away.

Hubert Humphey's election loss to Tricky Dick Nixon. Altogether, a pretty terrible year, except for the fact that I got out of the Army and then this astonishing moon orbit.
