I have a question about Joseph McCarthy. Did he achieve anything of note after he was censuree in 1954?
Even though I was only three at the time, I have always traced my interest in politics back to that moment. Lately, I have become intensely interested in what happened to him after censure. I know that he remained a senator for another three years until he died. What did he accomplish anything?
I know there are a biographiesi, some of them quite cheap. Reading anything in book form is impossible for me. I'm reluctant to spemd the outlandish price for audiobooks on him. And Google has been help at all. So I turm to you all. Does anybody know?

(113,131 posts)He was a broken man after the censure, still shrieking about Communism but being ignored by his colleagues, the press, and the public. He then proceeded to drink himself to death, periodically switching from whiskey to beer when he wanted to pretend he was trying to get sober. His COD was listed as acute hepatitis.

(180 posts)This is pretty close to what I wanted confirmation that he never rose above himself. I was aware that he died a drunk and I had assumed that meant he never got over the censuring. What I didn't know was whether he tried. Obviously he didn't.
I thought I had read the wikipage but it is awfully easy to miss something when using extreme magnification.

(52,357 posts)It is right before she was murdered. Basically it is MY scream. It is a combination of a scream of utter frustration and the film Network when they yell, "I am mad as he'll and not going to take it anymore".
