Looks hungry, and needs to see if you have any food you don't want.
Did he get out of his/her yard, some how? Where I live, it's rare to see a dog off leash, not with a person or not in a fenced yard.

as properties are large and not connected.
Often see folks walking dogs along road toward river, but never right here; this/my property is wide open.

Neighbors close by (have garage in view of pic) just got 2 pups (formerly had scotties, ) walk them around and I invite them in, but it's rare.
