Keep an eye on your kitties

I may be a worry wart, but I'm afraid that since we have criminals in charge and bullies are getting a pass, that cats and their owners will be targets of cruelty.

On top of every other loved one we have to worry about.

cats were part of the killing. One of the reasons for the plague running rampant is because the idiots murdering women also killed the cats ad the nonhuman rat population ran out of control.

He liked to catch any bugs that came in. I'd go with him and try to save the bug to get it out the door It was 50/50. He was a good hunter

You can’t save the mouse and it only aggravates the cat

He has a special scorpion call to me, and will stay with the intruder, without getting too close, until I catch it and move it outside where it belongs.

With crickets, he munches happily then waits for the next one.

He does not go outside unless on his leash and with a human on the other end. I doubt he would jump the walls around the yard at his advanced age, but we have coyotes prancing down the sidewalks in broad daylight and LOTS of different birds of prey here. I take no chances with my sweet feline familiar.

In 140 year old brick church. Somewhere on my property is a brood nest for garter snakes. In the Autumn, the last of the season's young tend to come bimbling into my cellar home in search of warmth. Instead they find three predators.
I try to rescue the little goofs before my cats do too much damage.

It's better for the birds, and we don't have to worry about them doing battle with dogs/cars/foxes etc. They also live a lot longer indoors and with three of them, they amuse each other. And us, of course.

He was a stray we adopted. Living on his own for so long, he became a cold, calculating, efficient predator. Use the think...man, it's a good we're big or we wouldn't stand a chance!

For some reason they always view kitties as being female. They kill them because of that. Killing women by proxy.

My cat (Gojira) and newly rescued kittens (Pippen and Warlock) never leave the safety and comfort of the house, unless we are making a trip to the vet. But I completely agree with your sentiments.

I am reminded of the poster in my vet's office about the life expectancy of an indoor cat versus one that's allowed out or lives outdoors.

But yes, this troubling thought has been in the back of my mind, too.

Since the election, I have seen SEVERAL posts on FB of people (or the SPCA/Animal Shelter) saying that a there is a dead cat (with description) on the side of the road in such & such area/town. Sometimes it’s the SPCA saying that they have removed the deceased animal, or sometimes it’s a person relaying the information in case some is missing their pet.

Sure, over the years I’ve occasionally seen similar posts, (it happens sometimes when people let their animals roam), but I have noticed an noticeable uptick this week which is (now that you mention it) suspicious.

Many people are reporting missing cats. Missing dogs, too. Could be coyotes, or other predators.
