Is she supposed to be somewhere on time?
If so , leave her alone to experience the consequences of being late.
Usually only takes one or 2 times for that lesson to sink in.

Dunno know why teenagers go into the long sleep habit, but they do, around age 16 and up...
I let mine miss any meals, activities and even school if they refused to get up in time.
It got their attention pretty fast.

I'm thinking ice cubes or a supersoaker. Unless they are sick or something. I know, sometimes I have a mean side.

and tell her you love her.

I do that with my 11 year old and she wakes up happy.

She rejects anything perceived as combative or nagging.

Pretty exciting that she is in Budapest- a place I have always wanted to see.

Do you skype?

for me to be able to see the person, even if it is all off time-wise.

I find that I like to start w/ the video on and then just go to the voice only as I get a bit tired of having to sit right at the computer.

My eldest likes to take people on "a tour" of her apartment, carrying the laptop around as a video camera. It's pretty funny. Her dog recognizes her voice and shows up to participate. She was already used to listening to her on a telephone but she hasn't quite figured out the picture thing yet. She's almost 10 and I think her eyesight is a bit degraded. She might not be able to focus on the screen, but she can sure as hell follow a tennis ball through the air!

($0.99 for a contract w/at&t) and that feels like StarTrek to me- even this "old version". A friend of mine who has the Siri one- he was talking to it and it did all this stuff....I thought STARTREK is here!

How neat is that for you to be able to see her apartment? I love it and can just see her old dog looking a bit confused? But also hopeful and happy?

Fun to think about.
