(18,219 posts)I have swabbed the leaves and stems (whenever I see the infestations) with a Q-tip soaked in alcohol.
If it is whitefly, I have had to throw the plants away, I have never been able to have success indoors with them. Outdoors, I used a tobacco tea as a spray and it was very effective.

(106,886 posts)Simple, flat ping pong paddle size pieces of plastic. (Say that one four times fast...) Used mainly to monitor an infestation, changed daily. Yet they did provide some control - loaded with white flies after 24 hours.

got some more lights for xmas, including some that are incandescent. the extra bit of warmth seems like it might be helping, as they are in a chilly room.
cuz it's not enough for me to work the farm all summer. gotta go year round. yeah. cuz, cuz i'm crazy, that's why.

(1,353 posts)Parthenogenic little buggers. We sprayed them with a mixture of alcohol and water. Test on the leaves first, though, just in case, but alcohol usually doesn't bother leaves. Or you could use Safer's Soap, or Neem Oil. Or ladybugs, as mentioned by another poster. Aphids and spider mites also love still, warm air. After you have gotten rid of your aphids, you might try a putting a little fan in the area, just to get some air movement. Good Luck!
