Despite the cold, miserable weather, my Daffodils are thriving. I just might pop the cork on a bottle of bubbly when the first ones actually do come to full bloom. It's just been that kind of Winter.

(27,352 posts)I remember one year I was in London the first week of March, and there were blooms galore in the parks! Even the locals were surprised.

I think that being close to the foundation of the house helps them stay warmer and they bloom, perhaps, a little earlier than others not near a building.
Happy you are getting them! We have a couple days of snow blowing in and I have a parking lot for a yard now, last year I had a huge garden and all that, kind of depressing. At least I have a view of the mountains and the sky. Maybe have a small garden in a small patch out back but I'd have to protect everything from wind, rabbits and deer. Could be a big challenge!
Yay for daffodils! They are so happy looking, I hope they last a few days after they bloom.

(1,979 posts)is 4/16 and my earliest memories are of my beloved grandmother always picking me a vase of daffodils for my birthday. They are my favorite flower to this day. Just a wonderful childhood memory of that rare, unconditional love. sigh.
