It's strawberry season for maybe 1-2 more weeks.

Local strawberries.

I made strawberry compote today. Wonderful on vanilla ice cream and/or pound cake.

You could overdose from the intensity of flavor.

It is almost unbelievable how good they taste. And each berry is solid red all the way through, so juicy, and full of flavor. I love this time of year.

During other times of the year, we buy the berries you can get at the grocery store from Mexico and California. On the outside, they look pretty, but that’s it. Almost completely white on the inside. They make us appreciate this time of year!
