I posted here a while back about starting the process for bariatric surgery,

The doctor thought it best to have a hernia repaired before proceeding, so after my horrendous ordeal with that,

I finally have all my requirements met. My paper work has been sent to the insurance company and we're waiting for them to respond.
I am getting seriously excited.
The waiting is over...surgery scheduled for April 1
I am really surprised how quick this came. It was just sent in last Wednesday. They told me to expect anywhere from 2-6 weeks wait.

I know you've done lots of research and I hope you find a good deal of support here.
Waiting sucks, been there done that.
Yesterday March 15th was the 8th anniversary of my bariatric surgery. Bileopancreatic Diversion with a duodenal switch. I went from a high of 302 lbs to 139 lbs yesterday morning.
I had my surgery here in MI.
good luck.

(9,681 posts)opted for the bypass. My doctor feels this would best help with alleviating my medical problems ( the main reason for my doing this).
Congrats on your amazing success. I hope my goes as well. I started at 314 am now down to 302. My doctor wanted me to lose 10 pounds to show I could change my eating habits, so I guess that worked, lol.
The reason I got the hernia in the first place is when I saw the scale hitting the 300 mark, I was horrified. I decided to start working out at the local high school weight room. I guess I when over board (because I wasn't seeing any results) and the hernia was the result. I am no longer going to the weight room (yet) but I am walking every day. I hope after recovery to be able to go back, and this time, no hernia!

(15,210 posts)I had a hiatal hernia and a small hernia near my navel fixed at the same time as the bypass. I had major complications, too (pulmonary embolism and abcess), but overall I'm very glad I had the surgery--just two more pounds and I'm under 200 for the first time in about 20 years!

(17,257 posts)It's amazing watching the scale numbers go down isn't it ?
Are you having much trouble at all with dumping ?
kesha.

(15,210 posts)Ate half a biscuit and that did it. I haven't been near sugar at all since surgery, so don't know if I dump on that. I used to be such a sugar addict it's really amazing to me that I haven't touched the stuff.

(17,257 posts)Dumping isn't a problem for DS'ers.
Our tastes do change after surgery and I don't really know why.
congrats on your continued success !!!

(9,681 posts)surgery about a year and a half ago, hysterectomy. When I started my exercise program after I was given the all clear, I kind of went over board.
Congratulations on your success, I can't wait until I can say the same thing about the pounds.
