Third day and doing great - update: 3 months today!!

No nicotine substitutes and I believe that I will never smoke again…. ever.

Glad to be part of the non-smoking, non-nicotine addicted world.

A trick given to me by our local smoking cessation nurse (NHS so free) clean surfaces you touched before you stopped, in the house and in the car. Nicotine builds up on those surfaces and is accidentally absorbed triggering the craving

I am at my daughter's house. As she has never smoked and I only smoked outside, it's pretty nicotine free.

But my car is an entirely different matter.

Today is still hard, but I feel very confident.

I smoked for the best part of 40 years and had a heck of a time shaking the addiction until one day the price of a pack of cigarettes went to $10 a pack. some logic bomb went off in my head at that point and i've never smoked since,that was 5 years ago.
Looking back at my years of trying to quit smoking it seems so easy now just dont smoke any more and the problem is solved, however i've developed a much more insidious addiction over the past few years,its called food not so easy to get under control as its not as black and white as cigarettes where you either smoke or you dont smoke, food addiction is a much more complex issue.

I am now on day 40 and doing well. For the most part I am able to shake off urges quickly and easily.

My hardest times are when I am around people who are smoking. At those times I get pretty grouchy, but I still don't even come close to lighting up. I've just come to far.

Food is definitely harder and I wish you the best of luck. I used Allen Carr's Easy Way to Quit Smoking and it was miraculous for me. He also has a book about food. I've never looked at it, but I sure can recommend his style.

Congratulations you've given up smoking.As time goes on you'll think less and less about it.And some years up the road you'll wonder why it took so long to decide to give it up and why it was so tough to give up/

It's been 2 months now and I believe that I will never go back.

I should have done it a long time ago, because I have some significant consequences, but that's water under the bridge.
