Smoking Cessation
Related: About this forumtoday is my one month anniversary!
I've quit before. Many, many times. The longest being two years. This time feels different, though. I recognize my "triggers" and just deal with them.
I've talked with many people who have been smoke-free for 10 or more years and they've said that they have to treat it like alcoholism. Never take even a drag or bum one smoke. Anyone a long time quitter?
Wishing everyone here the best!

(11,714 posts)those who have never faced cigarette addiction don't realize that it's a lifestyle that you have to change, much like alcoholism. i still find myself absently grabbing for the phantom pack in my car console.
i just hope i'm strong enough to go get through it. i wonder if i used the "i'm a smoker" analogy to "i'm an alcoholic" i'd have a better understanding of my addiction.
