(6,230 posts)You will need to sit with it for a short period of time. Breathe deeply and count backwards 3-2-1 rhythmically, over and over. Think only of the numbers.
Once you get to the ER, they will likely give you antianxiety meds to relieve the terrible symptoms you are experiencing. Just a little more time... keep breathing and counting...
Once your symptoms are controlled, it will be important to get to the root of what's causing them. That will take more time. But with the symptoms well-controlled, you will be able to start that deeper work.
Keep talking to us while you are waiting. We care.

Edit: Just saw your post about the terminal breast cancer. I am so sorry. No wonder you are having panic attacks. Low oxygen can do that. You have every reason to feel scared, but deserve symptomatic relief. [[Hugs]]
Terminal cancer is the underlying cause

(6,230 posts)While the underlying cause apparently can't be fixed, there is a lot they can do to relieve your pain and distress. I'm glad that you are on your way to the ER to get immediately palliative care.
Hang in there for a bit longer...

(6,230 posts)I stayed with her to the end and delivered morphine to relieve those symptoms.
Hopefully, they will get you hooked up quickly with oxygen and medication to soothe those symptoms. I pray it doesn't take too long for you to get immediate attention at the ER.
Ultimately, you will shed this body that is not working well for you anymore and enter into a new and unknown adventure. But the in-between time will be challenging. You need the best palliative care possible. Today will be the start of that for you, I hope.

(5,010 posts)It helps calm the vagus nerve.
Also putting wrists under cold water or even putting ice on them also can help.
And as everyone says, breathing is most important.
This will be over soon.

(2,697 posts)I always rub my 3rd eye slowly when feeling trauma. It helps slow the breathing and calm the heart and mind.
Allow yourself to embrace fully this life. Breathe deeply into every cell of your body. Feel gratitude that you are here in this life now. Love yourself with every fiber of your being. Give in to compassion for your body. Honor yourself for your hard struggle which you go through with grace.
You are loved. You are cared for. You are eternal.
