Related: About this forumhas anyone had an allergic reaction to earmolds?
I got new hearing aids a couple months back. I had not worn ear molds before. They worked fine initially, but in the past week or so I've developed painful swelling and redness in the outer parts of both ears where the devices touch. I know improperly cured epoxy can cause an allergic skin reaction. I have a visit with my provider scheduled for next week, but I'm wondering has anyone else had a similar experience? If so, how was it resolved?

(16,296 posts)Improperly cured epoxy is a good suspect. Epoxy is made of two agents and if it was not cured properly, it certainly can cause skin problems. Also, some people are just allergic to some plastics. My wife has a severe allergic reaction to latex for example.
If suspect, talk to a dermatologist or insist on going to one before you have those aids implanted.
