Related: About this forummy biopsy sites r driving me crazy.
i realize that a skin biopsy exposes nerves, but damn they still hurt like hell a week later. they’re getting to the itchy stage, and it hurts to scratch. (not, i’m not scratching hard, just rubbing a bit. but owww.)
i’ve mostly kept a bandaid on, w some neosporin + pain relief, cuz my clothes rubbing on them is…
they told me to only keep it on a day or 2. that’s my normal wound care thing tho, and it usually works like a charm.
is this normal?

(67,145 posts)I have had many skin biopsies because I had a pre-melanoma some years ago.
I developed an allergy to the Neosporin and other topical antibiotics, and the bandaids.
They caused more problems than the original biopsy. And scaring.
So from then on, I can only use aquaphor and latex free bandaids.
If I must use Neosporin, I can only use it for a short period of time.
I have delicate and sensitive Irish skin, like I think you may have.
Check with your doctor or send them a picture.
They should know right away what the problem is.
Of course it could be something else entirely, so contact them.
