Cancer Support

I thought I was alone with this feeling that I shouldn't survive because I lost so many people to cancer.
Join a cancer group !!!!!!! it's not about sitting around and complaining -a cancer group can be very helpful even if you are a breast cancer survivor talking with prostate cancer survivors joining a cancer group has changed my attitude about being alive .
it's hard but do it especially if you think groups are dumb and all about 80's self help dribble ----you owe it to yourself but more importantly to the people who have helped you through it.

(794 posts)I have tried the support group route with my 11 year on-going fight with cancer. One of the problems I have is that there is no such thing as remission and a cure for me, just a battle of informed retreats, combined with the latest chemotherapy drug regimes and the best surgical oncologists We can find. For me it's more important to live my daily life as if the cancer is just an inconvenience- I dont give it any power over me by refusing to acknowledge it's existence beyond the neccessary medical treatments and assorted dietary problems. The groups work for some people, not so much for others- I geuss it's all down to individual comfort levels and fighting approach. Thanks for this OP- more people should be made aware of support opportunities for cancer fighters.

(53,400 posts)much a loner. However, those in the group offered all kinds of tricks to deal with the terrible side effects of radiation to the mouth and jaw areas.
