Checking in

Just finished my first series of chemo. I have pancreatic cancer. First longevity estimate was pretty bad. The second round one is giving me a bit more time. Still in the get my affairs in order stage when not getting treatment. Off work at this point but still able to live alone.

I'll post my stories here as they happen.

Was having abdominal pain, thought it was maybe my gall bladder. Quite a surprise. Now working with a top cancer center in Socal. Its going reasonably well so far.

I'm 33 and I've got stage 4 colon cancer.

Right now I'm back of chemo after not having it for about 3 weeks. I'm on FOFIRI and Avastin, and the Avastin indirectly caused a massive blood clot in my shoulder that caused me to get hospitalized. I just had chemo on Wednesday and things were going pretty good. Felt like shit today though....I had some problems sleeping and got behind on some of my meds, so I was pretty bad off. Finally got back on track and I'm feeling a bit better right now.

Just took some Zoplicone, hoping it puts me to sleep. I can't believe that two years ago I was in awesome shape, getting ready to start a new career, and putting a bunch of shitty life circumstance behind me. Now I'm laid out on a couch, have no energy for anything, and take a handful of pills for everything from pain, to anxiety, to high blood pressure. Life will just fuck you over sometimes....sigh.

I don't know a lot about pancreatic cancer (I'm in the same boat as Evoman with Stage IV colon cancer with mets to the lung) but my impression is pancreatic cancer is a serious animal. I wish you the best. Feel free to PM anytime.

How are you doing now? Are you able to tolerate the chemo ok? I don't think anyone tolerates chemo w/o any problems but some rounds are not as horrible as others. As is my custom I will think of you when I light my candles every night.

Some days it is worse than others. When I go offline for several days, it means that I am not having a good time with the chemo.

When I am getting treatment I stay onsite. The wireless Internet there is really spotty too. I seem to have gotten past that part of it, at least this week
