I do not drink anything stronger. Just relaxing, watching TV, and playing online Scrabble. Puppy curled up right next to me in my recliner.

I often used to deal with a choice of going to a bar or my favorite McDonalds. I noticed that after filling up at McDonalds, my interest in going to the bar was about non-existent.

Take care.

It's only one day at a time and all you have to do is not drink today. That's when the light went on for me, when I realized that. I knew I could make it through just one day. You can rethink it again tomorrow.

In the meantime, "move a muscle, change a thought." That's what helped me a lot on the beginning, too. I've gotten pretty good at distracting myself. Whether it's just doing something as simple as emptying the dishwasher, it took my mind off myself.

And you are doing exactly the right thing by talking about it, sharing what you're feeling with those who've been there and understand. I sure do, never thought I'd be able to put any time together, but I finally managed it by just taking one day at a time.

Hang in there, my friend. If I can do it, anyone can. And in the meantime, you have hearts! Others here care about you, too!

Nothing is worth what that one drink will cost you. But you already know that so kudos to you for not drinking tonight.
