Four incredible series we just finished - "Mare of Easttown", "Blue Lights", "Happy Valley" and "The Fall"
The writing, the acting, the pace - all simply staggering.
They are all pretty gritty, but the character development is superb. It is also great to see strong female characters leading all of these.
Not surprisingly, 3 are UK productions, 1 US (with Kate Winslet giving the performance of her life).

I watched I think one season of The Fall, and I can't remember why I did not finish it

Maybe only one season was available at the time
Anyway we did watch Happy Valley all the way through and it was definitely gritty.
We both liked it a great deal
