The idea that eating cocoa-rich, dark chocolate may offer health benefits is not new. Cocoa is loaded with compounds called polyphenols that have been shown to help our bodies fend off inflammation, lower blood pressure and maybe even improve our moods.
Now, a new study finds people who have a habit of eating a little dark chocolate about an ounce per day have a 21% lower risk of developing Type 2 diabetes, compared to people who don't consume it.

until they recommended just an ounce per day!
I went in the office break room this morning and discovered a tin of fancy dark chocolates, dropped off by some aspiring salesweasel . According to those figures, Im good for about a week now.

If i am reading this study right, it seems part of it is that consumers of dark chocolate also ate healthier (more fruits and veggies, more water, unsweetened tea, etc.). Those who ate both milk and dark also seemed to have a lower risk, while those who ate just milk chocolate were more likely to gain weight. Fascinating!
