(4,893 posts)hernia surgeries lately, and I used cannabis exclusively, no oxy. I hate the way it knocks me out, and even more I hate the oxy constipation. Drs. insist on prescribing it for pain after surgeries, so I just stockpile it, for just in case.

(12,242 posts)Even one day of full dose oxy means everything gets stopped up for me. I tend to take half doses and that doesn't react that way with my system. My dr. would tell me to take Colace along with it, but I found Miralax worked better. Everyone I know who has taken it has the same reaction.
Did you take it with food or on an empty stomach? An empty stomach can make the nausea feeling worse.
I hope you're feeling better soon.

(36,318 posts)Back in the day people were in the hospital for more than a week. I had a lot of gas pains and grumbling after mine, I was only given Tylenol and Ibuprofen. It was very painful for about 4 days.

(1,648 posts)For some reason, opioids make me extremely nauseous. My doctor prescribed the antinausea drug Zofran. It did the trick.

(1,648 posts)Zofran helped me sleep too, though it was subtle--not as strong as taking a sleeping pill or Benedryl. Of course, being able to sleep better might also have been because I didn't feel like I was on the verge of puking every 5 minutes.
Good luck, hope your doctor gets back to you soon. And hope you heal quickly.

(755 posts)I wish you lived near me, too. I'm so sorry you're in pain. How about soup, (not tomato,) or even just crackers, any in the pantry? And as was mentioned, take that stool softener. You need food or the pain pills will make you really dizzy and upset your stomach. Can you call the doctor's office and talk to the nurse for anti-nausea meds? Please take care, let us know how you are doing, and I'll be thinking of you.
