How do any of you date men in America. I'm seeing misogyny, manosphere hate, femicide and rising domestic violence and murder suicides committed by men towards women who are close to them. Did anyone here give up on dating them or did you find a liberal feminist boyfriend or hubby. I'm trying to see something 🤔 EDIT THANK U FOR YOUR REPLIES EVERYONE REALLY APPRECIATE THAT.

We separated, several inequities in his favor resulted but I receive survivor benefit (he died,) and Federal Health Plan as my supplement to Medicare.

(3,069 posts)Painting all men with such a broad brush is just wrong. If a woman doesn't want a man or marriage or kids, that's of course fine. But if a woman wants to date a man, there are plenty of good ones in all age ranges.

(61 posts)I know but it just seems like its harder to find the good man and many men start out good then turn bad in relationships. And women end up being trapped an enduring abuse they never thought would occur.

(9,740 posts)My husband isnt perfect but he is very much a feminist, his mom taught him well. She never waited on him or his dad, taught him to take care of himself, and he doesnt expect to be waited on. Politically were on the same page too. If he were to go first (were in our 60s) I doubt I would ever date, too many men of my generation dont get it.

(327 posts)I worry that the term feminist tends to be interpreted as a distinct portion of individuals rather than the norm, because its reinforced by media (and others) as an outlier mindset.
The worst perpetrators of misogyny tend to get attention because of their extreme actions and points of view, yet somehow *not* being like them is never described as feminism. Instead, feminism seems to be considered just as extreme, perhaps as a natural counterbalance.
This could be another case of an accurate phrasing gone awry, as it did with global warming and defund the police. In those cases, as with feminism, the majority of our society would agree with the premise, but very quickly the phrase becomes sullied to represent something sinister and non-mainstream. We certainly know the who, how, and why behind that, but once the perception takes root its nearly impossible to reverse.
Bottom line, I bet most first-world men and women are feminists whether they know it or not, and irrespective of whether theyd accept that label or not. We still have a long way to go regarding womens rights, but being a non-feminist today is actually the extremist position, and it would really help if people heard it stated that way. Not holding my breath, but

Very interesting. Sometimes its hard to tell how men are considering they change personalities instantly
