The Safe Cosmetics Act of 2011 (H.R.2359)

Would it surprise you to know that under current law (1938 isn't exactly 'current', but that's the most recent update) companies that manufacture cosmetics or personal care products are allowed to determine what is safe to include in their products, are not required to disclose all ingredients, and are not subject to product recalls?

This bill, which was sent to the House Subcommittee on Workforce Protections in September of last year, addresses those issues. If you'd like to show your support for the bill please contact your Representative. You can use the handy link below to do so.

This group seems to have pretty much died. I wonder what's up with that.

I know iverglas is away because of personal issues, and then on top of that, her partner's mother passed away this past weekend.

Not sure where everyone else has run off to.

This subject has been a big deal within the organic industry- maybe if enough noise is made from all sides, things might improve.....
