Does anyone here know or know of Gabby Haze?

He was a lifelong activist and was associated with the Radical Faeries and Short Mountain Sanctuary (SMS) in Tennessee. He was an old and dear friend of mine going back to 1976. He passed away on Sunday, April 19. Just thought some here might want to know.

I met some of the Radical Faeries at the 2nd National March on Washington. I don't know if he was one of them. I am a big GLBT history buff and read a lot about our history.

Again, I am sorry to hear your friend has left us.

He was at most of the Rainbow Gatherings, too. His name was also John. He and his wife (yes!), Merril Mushroom, were interviewed in a book called "Rebels, Rubyfruit, and Rhinestones" by James Sears. Look for it!

They married as a gay man and a lesbian woman in the late 60s because 1) they really did deeply love each other, and 2) they both wanted to adopt children and have a family, and saw that as a way to do it. And they did! They adopted 4 children and have remained married all these years. We were neighbors in rural Tennessee. They used to babysit for me! They were both movers and shakers, brilliant, magnetic, outspoken, and unique. I feel fortunate to have known them both.
