A Beautiful sculpture from 1883

From the blogger J Christophe. This interesting sculpture made by the French artist Jules Dalou (1838-1902) - his official name was Aimé-Jules Dalou - is visible in Paris (Xème) Town Hall.

I wonder if this was intended to celebrate the end of a war. I mean "make love not war" seems to be a theme with the rifle on the ground and flags surrounding the men kissing.
At any rate it is lovely.
