The Missouri AG was apparently upset that Kansas City declared itself a sanctuary city for gender affirming care. AG Bailey was upset that police weren't arresting and charging people for the as of yet, unsigned Republican bill. Bailey thinks he is being mocked:
It is the Boards constitutional duty to enforce the law and ensure that children are protected from these dangerous experimental gender transition interventions, he wrote.
He said that supporting the City Councils resolution would not only harm children, but would also be a flagrant violation of the Boards legal duties.
In a statement responding to Baileys directive, Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves explained that the legislation purports civil, not criminal, penalties and thus does not involve police enforcement.
These provisions are outside the jurisdiction of the Kansas City Missouri Police Department (KCPD), said Graves, according to the Kansas City Star. I want to assure Kansas City, we will continue to serve all the members of the community equitably regardless of race, ethnicity, age, religion, gender, gender identity, gender expression, or sexual orientation.

(14,949 posts)AG of MO lost a lawsuit against a suburban school district of KC recently. When he was still AG last year, he brought a lawsuit against multiple districts saying they had no right to require children to wear face masks. One district then filed a lawsuit against Schmitt saying he had no right to tell them what to do. School district ended up winning a few days ago. Schmitt after winning the senate seat wanted to drop the lawsuits, but this one district refused. They wanted to set a precedent that the AG could not tell a school district what they couldnt do in a health crisis like Covid.
Unfortunately last year he ran for the Senate and won.
