Freak accident and fire in '75.
I was tempted to try Seattle as a starting point in my career, mid-80's, then after landing a brief travel gig there during the disastrous 2010 midterms, getting "stuck" near there due to the job market/housing crash, I became so enamored with the liberal/progressive bent if area but alas, had to return to my native Cali for work after all.
Seattle and the Kitsap peninsula will remain a fond spot in my memory.
