The exposed journalists are part of Hamas's military wing operating as the vanguard of Hamas's propaganda war against Israel.
The IDF announced on Wednesday that six journalists actively working for Al Jazeera were members of Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ).
The IDF says that due to intelligence recovered from the Gaza Strip during military operations, they can reveal that Anas Al-Sharif, Alaa Salama, Hossam Shabat, Ashraf Saraj, Ismail Abu Amr, and Talal Aruki are all affiliated with the military wings of either Hamas or PIJ.

(630 posts)with the usual practice of saying "Claims", "accuses" etc. instead of stating any government's allegations as fact.
Plus the usual practice of getting a response and providing context.
In January, Israel said an Al Jazeera staff journalist and a freelancer killed in an airstrike in Gaza were terror operatives.
The following month, it accused another journalist with the channel, who was wounded in a separate strike, of being a deputy company commander with Hamas.
Al Jazeera has fiercely denied Israels allegations and accused it of systematically targeting Al Jazeera employees in the Gaza Strip.

(9,435 posts)As used, it is a slur. At least that is what I see as your intention. It's up there with the "Jews are liars" trope.
Or perhaps you meant it in a different sense. Feel free to explain.
Now, if you think that what is posted in the article is not fact-based, please feel free to point out exactly where it is not so.

(2,683 posts)Second, hasbara is a respectable Israeli/modern Hebrew term.
Also, you might want to look up the word trope.
Just because you dont like criticism of Israel, it doesnt make it an antisemitic trope.
Israel, like all nations, puts out a stream of propaganda to justify its actions, like the nonsense about UNRWA relief workers being Hamas fighters. If Israel had proof of this you know they would produce it. And even if they did have proof it wouldnt justify the ongoing genocide.

(19,570 posts)UNRWA confirms that Muhammad Abu Attawi was a staffer and killed on Wednesday, after Israel announced it had targeted him in a strike.
The IDF and Shin Bet said that Attawi, a Hamas Nukhba Force commander who led the killing and kidnapping of Israelis from a roadside bomb shelter near Kibbutz Reim on October 7, had been employed by UNRWA since July 2022.
According to UNRWA, Attawis name was included in a letter the Palestinian refugee agency received from Israel in July that included a list of 100 staff members who were also allegedly members of armed groups, including Hamas.
