Israeli land grabs spike in West Bank during Gaza war

In March, Israeli authorities declared 8,000 dunams (800 hectares) adjacent to Edais's home -- an area including his sheep's grazing grounds -- as state land, a move that often leads to restrictions on Palestinians' access.

Israel, which has occupied the West Bank since 1967 and established settlements that are deemed illegal under international law, has for decades seized land in the Palestinian territory.

But according to Israeli settlement watchdog Peace Now, this year has already broken a record for most land grabs, which in many cases lead to settlement expansion.

The advocacy group said that 10,971 dunams of West Bank land have been seized by Israel so far in 2024, as much of the world's attention has been focused on the devastating Israel-Hamas war in the Gaza Strip since October 7.

He has been violating international law for years. I believe many Israelis do not support him, but where are the protests against his policies?

But there is a reason Netenyahu and the nut jobs further to the right keep getting re-elected.

We should be aware that some of the people stealing the land in the West Bank are Isareli-American dual citizens supported with money from here in the U.S.

Israel is ostensibly a democracy so any actions by that state are a reflection of the political will of its voting population.

If Israel is seizing land, persecuting Palestinians, and engaging in the ethnic cleansing, in part or as a whole, of East Jerusalem and the West Bank, it is because Israelis want that to happen.

They are angry with Bibi because he failed to protect them Oct 7 and
overturn the courts. They do not have any issues with the way
the government manages "The Palestinian Problem."

What It’s Like to Grow Up in an Israeli Settlement

Mar 25, 2019

This week we bring you Iris Zaki’s thought-provoking short film “Natural Born Settlers.” A self-described liberal from cosmopolitan Tel Aviv, Zaki wanted to get behind the politics of Israel’s controversial settlements in the occupied territories — so she moved there, temporarily, setting up an improvised cafe where she could chat with settlers from her own generation.
