Related: About this forumState of emergency in Moldova. What does it mean? - TVP World
On Monday, December 16, a state of energy emergency was declared in Moldova. This is due to a looming halt of natural gas supplies via Ukraine, which is a problem because most of Moldovan electricity comes from burning this very fuel (to make matters more complicated in a power plant located in Transnistria, a breakaway region). Martin Vladimirov, Director for Energy and Climate at the Center for the Study of Democracy, explains how difficult the situation in the country may become, what the possible courses of action are, and why the politicians in Chișinău are partly responsible for the situation.

One of my favorite pieces of music. It touches something way back in my German / Euro origins.

Years back, I sent CD's of this out to my whole family for Christmas.

tho I can't claim German roots; surely Euro. (DO live along a river.)
Was very fortunate to catch a live performance, when visiting Prague.

(18,195 posts)4. Yup, I've seen where appropriately-located orchestras were playing it, and daydreamed of being there for it.
In fact, I took a little daydream journey on just that as I made my post. My son's wife is from Sofia. Maybe some day I can experience it in that region.
I DID get to watch a local park band play Midnight in Moscow at one of Sofia's lovely city parks, though!

Heard it while on a train, London to Moscow, AND later Spartacus @ Bolshoi in Moscow.
