Rest in peace "Get on George" and "Gold Dancer"

Rest in peace, Get on George, a 6-year-old horse killed early this afternoon after being raced at the Grand National Festival in Aintree, U.K.
69 horses have now lost their lives at the Aintree "festival" since the year 2000.

Yesterday's victim was Gold Dancer.
The 7-year-old had fallen at the final hurdle at the Midmay Novices' Chase and, despite having suffered a broken back, continued forward, while being whipped, to win the race and a reported sum of $67, 524.
He collapsed at the finish and was killed.

Imagine running with a broken back, being whipped, shown a crop, forced to go faster when your body is already giving out.
Then, when you finally reach the finish line, you're shot.
