I need to find a new long distance phone carrier

I have been using CREDO for several years, but they have quit the program. I can not make long distance calls. Frontier is my land line carrier, and I called them to see how much they charged to give me long distance service. They wanted to increase my bill $40/month. I do not have a cell phone, Just the land line. Frontier already charges me $47.69 a month. CREDO was charging me $16/month for long distance.

Any advice would be appreciated.

thought of trying Skype? It’s totally free to call other Skype members and other rates are reasonable.

leaving a lot of land line folks behind. I have a spare iphone from an upgrade, still perfectly usable. Mint Mobile offers a sell plan for $15/month which uses T-Mobile’s network. Could that solve your problem?

we both got flip phones because we needed them. We couldn't make connections from home, we live a few miles up dirt roads. Folks who visited could get a connection by a gate with a North view, but that went down a couple years back. To get a good connection now folks drive about a mile to a firehouse that has a means to connect. This is why I have kept my land line. But thanks for your offer.

Light use you could scrape by with a $40 a year cell phone and $20 in dial long distance. Heavy use not such a good fit.

/www.virtualprepaidminutes.com offers AT&T calls at about $.055 cents per minute. You call an 800 number, enter a pin, then the number you want to call. Cards come in various amounts ... $10, $20, $50 etc. Renewable.
