(10,840 posts)3. I drove past that a couple years ago
On vacation to Santa Fe, I drove to Taos a couple times, once driving west to the Rio Grande bridge on Hwy 64. I saw a whole neighborhood of those houses, had no idea it was anything other than a very unique looking place.

(9,326 posts)4. My closet neighbor lives in an earthship she basically built herself
Only having the community help her put up her roof. Three other neighbors built straw bale houses, two others also have earthships and another a rammed earth. I live in NM. My boyfriend and I built my frame house as solar passive with all south windows like the earthships. We all did this 20 years ago without building permits. Times are different now.
