Happened to me in June. Fortunately I found another job in ten weeks. Not a perfect fit, but I did not have to get a sleeping room. Wife refused to move. 30% cut in salary, but I am so thankful.

and a lost Coop position while in college (changed the course of my life).

Fortunately I didn't have kids the first time, and my kids were adults the second time (working for my old employer ironically enough).
