(10,117 posts)...watch it this afternoon If it's anything like Northeastern last year, it will be excellent.
I had read lots of comments on the speech and articles summarizing it, but had not seen a link other than to watch live - when I couldn't. It sounds incredibly good.
I like that he makes the point that these are not normal times - so a typical nonpartisan speech would ignore that people need both pushes to be active and hope through perspective that the US can be made right again.

(60,012 posts)Especially in the last few minutes when he spoke to the students. I am filled with so many mixed emotions -- not just more hopeful due to the optimism that he expressed that people can make the country better. Oddly, more than almost anything in the last 4 years or 12 and a half years - I wish this exceptional, good, brilliant man could have been our President.
It does make me realize that his Kerry scholars project at Yale is an amazing gift to the world. I love that for a very elite group of students, he will be someone who helps them refine their own view of how to serve the world. I hope that his combination of passion and optimism that good solutions can be found informs some of the Yale students and that they join others as leaders of the future.
