Any1 Remember Jim Traficant (D-Ohio)?

The only citizen to beat a RICO case, while defending himself (despite not being a lawyer), so of course The Feds made sure they'd get him some way or another, like unpaid farm work with his staff, which was more of a bonding experience. Jim would buy everyone beer for painting the side of his barn.

I always wondered what his head would look like if he shaved it... Such a strange shape.

I loved to watch his antics on the evening news back then. They didn't know what to do with him; they were just at a loss. Trump is a pathetic imitation of Jim Traficant. Traficant, with all of his insanity, did have a heart.

The guy whose false testimony got Traficant off, admitted on his death bed that Traficant suborned his perjury and his testimony got Traficant off.

Traficant was clearly guilty of all 10 federal charges. Not to mention he was all mobbed-up.

The mills closed, and he just asked the judge to give people a little more time.

He did get his Traficant Rule in, putting the burden of proof on the IRS (as opposed to homeowners), and the numbers were staggering, the disparity, and most people weren't kicked out of their homes because the IRS had to prove their case, not the accused.

back into some of my own posts but yes, I certainly do remember him and had referenced him sometime within the past month or 2.
Most memorable things - his 'hair' and "Beam me up!"
Quite the character - one of those that you KNOW should NOT be in government BUT - his own people LOVED him!

He made effective use of the teleprompter, but he also went off-script with some interesting and sometimes witty forays in which he poked at the underbelly of politics and the justice system.
