A Slidell Police Department officer pulled over a man for an expired license plate that hadn't been renewed since 1997, they said on Facebook.
When the officer asked the man why, the driver replied, "Sorry, officer. I've been busy lately and totally forgot to renew my vehicle registration. I will take care of it as soon as I get home," police said.
Louisiana drivers are required to renew their tags every two years.

(5,467 posts)the police can impound a car right then and there for expired tags....not sure how old the tags have to be...but I'm positive if the tag was from 1997 it could be taken immediately.

(63,323 posts)and the tags were probably worth more than the car. Surely the impound fee would be worth more than the car.

(5,467 posts)doubtful, but what if it was a 1956 For Thunderbird? It would be worth a ton of money. Of course I would highly doubt the owner of such a car would let the tags expire....perhaps it was a 1976 Ford Pinto???

(3,489 posts)Just kidding. I am referring to the urban legend, and apocryphal story, of a one Rudolph Fenz who was said to have gone through a time slip in 1876 New York City and found himself in 1951 Times Square where he was struck fatally by a taxi. In the 1980s, the story was passed off as true. However, later research revealed it to have been lifted from a fiction work published years earlier.
