The head of Russias national space agency has proposed a mission to the moon to verify whether the American moon landings really took place.
Dmitry Rogozin responded to a question about whether Nasas Apollo programme actually put men on the moon back in the 1960s and 1970s during a conversation with the president of Moldova, Igor Dodon.
He appeared to be joking, as he smirked and shrugged while answering. But conspiracies surrounding Nasas moon missions are common in Russia.
In a video of their interaction, posted to his 815,000 Twitter followers, Mr Rogozin says: We have set this objective to fly and verify whether theyve been there or not.

(23,194 posts)Just what the world needs: proof from the Russians that the Americans actually landed on the Moon.
Anyone who doesn't believe men walked on the Moon is an ignorant fool.

All the brave Americans in the world will not put this broken egg back together again.

(28,042 posts)...if there's literally *millions* in on a particular conspiracy theory (like what would be the case with NASA), then there's a strong chance that it doesn't exist, or one of millions involved would've talked by now.

(26,932 posts)one Moon landing was faked. But we went back five more times. Five more landings would not have been faked. Not to mention that the time it took for the various missions to get there had lots and lots of communications between them and the ground crews public for everyone to listen to. Can't imagine anyone faking all that.
Plus, at least one of them left something there that we still ping radar (or some such) off of, and we know that the Moon is gradually getting farther away.

We did not have the technology then to fake the landings. The video could now be faked, but back then, it would have been easier to actually go to the moon than fake the landings.

My question was "Will they write a song about it?" His answer, "No, that was some other guy in a different key."
