Married India Man sends hoax email to get out of trip with online girlfriend

Ooops

Love can be tricky, especially when you're a married man with a child and you've got an online girlfriend who wants to go on vacation.

Police in the southern Indian city of Hyderabad arrested 32-year-old Motaparthi Vamshi Krishna on Thursday for allegedly sending a hoax email about an aircraft hijack plot.

According to a statement by Hyderabad police, in the email, which was sent to Mumbai police on Saturday, Krishna claimed to be a woman who had overheard six men plotting to hijack planes in the cities of Hyderabad, Chennai and Mumbai the next day.

Police said Krishna confessed during questioning. He told them he had an online girlfriend in Chennai who wanted to take their relationship to the next level and had proposed a trip to Mumbai and Goa.

That's almost Florida Man level of stupid and creativity there.

A husband and wife had separated and the wife wanted a little revenge. She downloaded some kiddie porn and then called the cops claiming she had just "discovered" it and her husband must have downloaded it. Trouble was...hubbie had moved out a year before and the downloads were only a couple of weeks old.

I have no link, but I think it was posted on DU a couple of years ago.

My uncle's family lives near Alexandria, Louisiana so every once in a while I check the local newspaper web site to see what's going on down there. One time there was a story about a guy who went and called 911, claiming he was at a mall entrance and saw a man he knew robbing the nearby Pizza Hut. Just reading that much kind of made me suspicious because there isn't a Pizza Hut near the mall. Police went there and the manager had no idea what was going on since no robbery had taken place. The cops traced the 911 call. The guy made the call from his home. When they went there to question him they pressed redial and the phone dialed 911. He admitted the whole thing was a hoax to get the other man in trouble. I remember thinking dude at least call your parents and tell them you're going away for a while if you're going to do something that stupid.
