"Olivia Pope" called 911 from Iowa City bar
According to Iowa City police criminal complaints, around 2:45 a.m. Friday, 20-year-old Kelsey J. Cousins called 911 and claimed to be Olivia Pope, the main character in the ABC drama, Scandal. Cousins told the dispatcher that another character from the show, Cyrus Beene, was outside of the Sports Column in downtown Iowa City.
Dispatch sent an officer and he was flagged down by Cousins at 10 S. Dubuque Street. Police said Cousins kept talking about Scandal and a car with a bomb heading toward the White House.
Everything that defendant stated was nonsensical and rambling, the officer wrote in his report.
Police said Cousins had bloodshot, watery eyes and other signs of intoxication. She admitted to drinking and also had a fake ID. Police said a post-arrest breath test showed Cousins had a blood-alcohol concentration of .206 percent just before 3 a.m. She was arrested and faces charges of making a 911 non-emergency call and public intoxication, both simple misdemeanors.
