On Monday, Apple will roll out a series of replacements for the app that has been a main feature on its products for nearly 20 years, Bloomberg News reported.
CEO Tim Cook and other Apple leaders will outline a sweeping array of changes from the company during its annual developer conference in San Jose, California.
The move marks a significant shift for Apple customers who have used iTunes for music, podcasts, TV shows and movies.
Now, the tech giant plans to fill the void on its computers with three new apps ― Music, Podcasts and TV. Apples iPhones and iPads have already been fitted with the trio of features as alternatives to iTunes, but Macs and MacBooks have yet to see the change.

(4,919 posts)If I remember correctly, they introduce a concept called "natural scrolling" to mimic the iPhone's, iPad;s, and track pad;s scrolling method.
The metaphor previously is that windows were a viewport into content, and the scrolling action (and scroll arrows) were used to move the viewport. Clicking the top arrow would move the viewport up (and scroll content down), and clicking the bottom arrow would scroll content up.
Since the iPhone and iPad, Apple changed the metaphor to pushing the content itself up or down... It reads, counterintuitively, but scrolling up pushes the content up and actually scroll the viewport down. It's definitely a big concept change, but it really does feel much more intuitive to me especially when using a track pad.
Not sure how I feel about killing iTunes. I think I'll miss it for sentimental reason... Just as long as they keep my iTunes Match stuff.

(3,853 posts)I use a program that converts YouTube videos to MP3 format instead. Another plus is that this gives me the option to select live version performances which in some cases are better than the studio version of songs. You can check it out at the link below.

(3,853 posts)The premium package allows you to burn entire playlists that you set up on YouTube. Let me know what you think of the program after you have used it.

(45 posts)I have tried the link and every tune I tried stated it could not be downloaded or that there was an error. I can listen to the tune on You Tube, but cannot create a Mp3 file .
Do you have any advice? Maybe the program is corrupted?
